We are his house, built on the foundation of the apostles and the prophets.  And the cornerstone is Christ Jesus himself.

Here's a brief history of our church.

Our church congregation was officially formed after the Civil War, and its first worship was held on November 1865.  Twelve members constituted its beginning.  The congregation carried on for about 8 years, after which a short period of inactivity occurred.  ON November 7, 1880 the First Presbyterian Church of St. Croix Falls, WI was reconstituted.  Shortly, after this reconstitution, the original church site on Kentucky street was chosen for a building location that would cost $1700.

In 1919, a full basement was built under the building in order to provide a kitchen and large Sunday School Room.  An addition was also constructed in the middle 1900's on the north side of the Church.  The acting pastor, Reverend Taylor, began this addition using materials salvaged from the manse.  This church was occupied and used until 1995.

On January 9, 1995, the historic building of First Presbyterian Church at 248 Kentucky Street was destroyed by fire.  Following the loss of its building, the congregation met for worship at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in St. Croix Falls for two years and three months.  During that time, many churches and individuals stepped forward with financial aid to help the congregation rebuild.

A building committee was elected by the congregation to direct the construction of a new church.  They selected a new seven-acre site at 719 Nevada Street.  The ground-breaking for the new church was on June 11, 1995.  Actual construction began in mid-September.  The cornerstone was laid on December 3, 1995.  The first service in the new building was held on Christmas Eve in the unfinished Fellowship Hall.  Worship was moved from the nursing home on the Fellowship Hall on March 3, 1996.  The first worship service in the new sanctuary was held Easter Sunday, April 14, 1996.  The new building was dedicated on September 8, 1996.  The bell from 1884 that was salvaged from the old church was re-dedicated along with its new freestanding tower on June 13, 1999.  During the construction phase of this building, the congregation shared wonderful experiences of God's grace and leading.  We believe that out of the ashes a new and vital miracle church has emerged.

In September 2002, another stage in the life our our church occurred when we dedicated our new, modern, and beautiful education addition.  This addition includes 3 large classrooms, a youth room a larger nursery, a family room, additional restrooms, and a storage area.  It has become a joyful addition as the sounds of infants in the nursery, children in Sunday School, youth in the youth room, and adults in the choir utilize the space.
